Hi guys, I have 2 questions for the pros.

Q1.

Is there any way to perm disable the "recent program" on the start menu? I don't mean cleaning the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/microsoft/shell/taskswitch", but to turn off / disable the "feature" completely.

I heard Wisbar Advance 2 has the option. But since I use Smart Button, it would be quite wasteful to buy WA just for that option. Is there any program or registry hack? Alternatively, how can i script (or program) a automatic clearing of the registry key upon booting?

Q2.

For some very strange reason, the "System Info" (Power and Memory Info) launcher icon on my "Resco Today" has changed itself to the same icon as Resco Explorer (the magnifying glass over a folder). Nothing big deal, but it's just weird and confusing to have 2 identical icon doing different thing. I tried re-installing Resco + Today Plugin, it worked for a while, but the program appear after a soft reset.

What went wrong? I can assign using brute force an launcher icon via registry? I can't find the key, only the path for the program.

Thanks a lot.

Q2

I move re-allocated my RFileShell.dll to Storage. I think this might be the cause as the launcher points to "System Info.ink" and "System Info" contains:

18#:RSystemInfo?\Windows\rfileshell.dll,-141

I've updated this file manually to:

18#:RSystemInfo?\Storage\rfileshell.dll,-141

But the icon is not restored. How does WM5 assign icon to shortcuts / apps?

For Q1. I have searched hi and low and found nothing. Many people have told me that its not possible.

For Q2. I think this is a known issue. Resco's forums has a few posts regarding the icons\graphics for the today plugin. It has something to do with not refreshing the graphics under WM5.

Thanks for the reply.

For Q1. I've seen people claiming that WisBar Advance 2 allows the disable. But I don't own the software, can someone kindly verify?

For Q2. I've checked out the Resco forum but couldn't find a clue about what has happened. I've used Tweaks2k2 in re-allocating the file rfileshell.dll, perhaps I missed out something?

Thanks.

18# is the number of characters in the link line (and you should note that in your example it's wrong). However, i've tried both ways (correct and incorrect) and it doesn't seem to have much effect.

The second item (RSyetemInfo) is the applet to call i.e. the program the link is supposed to launch.

The third (?\windows\rfileshell.dll) is the file/library in which the icon is contained.

The last item (-141) is the location in the file/library where the icon is located.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll give WA2 a try. And althought the problems are not "solved", I've learnt a great deal. Special thanks to hishamh :)
