View Full Version : Palm's To Do-like application for PPC?

I have just started using a PPC after using a Palm for a while. So far I think that the Task application in the PPC (WM 5) doesn't even compare to the To Do application in the Palm. A few important things seem to be missing:
- I would like to have checked items disappear. Apparently there is no option to not show completed items in the list in the PPC.
- Categories are very hard to manage and use in the PPC. It takes three clicks to select a different category.
So my question is whether someone knows of a PPC application that is more like the Palm's.
Thanks,
Rodrigo

There are many 3rd party software programs you can get, some free, to accomplish that. Some have desktop counterparts to sync with, some don't. One example is ListPro (http://store.iliumsoft.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?multipreadd=action&keys=LP30PEK,LP30PEL,LP30PES&template=NewTpls/MultiItem1.html) by Ilium Software.

There are also dedicated Tasks applications (super-pim applications, actually) for Pocket PCs. Two of these are Pocket Informant (www.pocketinformant.com) and Agenda Fusion (www.developerone.com).

Thanks for the replies, they were useful. These are great pieces of software. I like ListPro quite a lot. However, it does not match the sheer simplicity of the Palm Task list. For example, changing from one list to the other is not as simple as in the Palm, when all one had to do was to select the new category from the pull down menu on the top-right corner. Or inserting a new item: the Palm had a 'New' menu, while ListPro requires going to the Menu or using a context menu. It is just hard to believe that no one has been able to write something that simple for the PPC platform. So does any one know of any other products that are simpler?
Thanks again,
Rodrigo

The built in ToDo application does al you are asking for. If you want to switch to a different list, select a different category from the top left. The same menu allows you to select Active only todos. If you select this option, a few seconds after clicking the tickbox in the list the todo will vanish. I would steer clear of the 3rd party tools unless you really need extra features. There's usually a downside!
If you have the todo app mapped to a hardware button, clicking it repeatedly switches between the different categories.
Good luck.

Thanks, this sounds appealing, but I am confused. We are talking about the builtin application called 'Tasks' in WM5, right? If so, I don't see the things you are describing, particularly the category selection on the top left. I also don't see an application called 'ToDo.' Am I missing something?

Sorry I was referring to WM2003SE. In WM5, the options are in the menu and they all still work. Menu (bottom right) then Filter, Active Tasks. This menu is also where you see all the categories. Hope this helps.

Ah, that's what I thought. Yes, what I dislike about 'Tasks' in WM5 is precisely the fact that the filtering is kind of buried in the Menu...
Thanks :-)
