well, i tried to find free dvd decoders but failed...
those are all commercial and i don't think i'll buy one of them anyway..
are there free decoders out there? or only if i must buy it, which would
be worth the money? :cry:

FairUseWizard (www.fairusewizard.com) seems to be the most popular. It looks like there is a lite version and a paid version, but I'm not totally sure because I'm a Mac user and I use HandBrake. It is also rather unclear if this is legal at this point, but I'm presuming that you are doing this for your own personal use, which is certainly not unethical, even if the MPAA manages to put through even more oppressive legislation.

The lite version is limited to a max 700MB for the transcoded file, the paid version is unlimited. IIANM, that's the only real difference.
