I switched from a Tungsten E to a H2215 so I could use Microsoft streets and trips.
I bought the GPS and downloaded a map but the directions/route didn't show up on the ppc. I have a SD card installed but have never figured how to make a map or files to go there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The route and directions don't transfer ... one of the biggest flaws with Streets and Trips.

You can easily get the directions onto the PDA by saving them as HTML by choosing File > Save As Web Page. Alternatively you could print the directions as an Acrobat or Flash Paper document (if you have that software) or copy the directions (right-click them and select copy) then paste into Word or even Excel then copy to PDA.

Yes it's a pain, but better than nothing. If you want better directions you need to fork out a lot more money so you can get Tom Tom Navigator or similar.

LeslieAs stated by SteveH999; directions don't transfer. You could create a pushpin/drawing that will transfer.
To transfer; left click&hold>draw a box around area to export >right click>export to pocket streets> If your device is not connected or sd card is not in slot/ save to desktop\maps\ and transfer.
I'd also recommend buying a card reader. Much faster.

*The steps are written from memory and may be in wrong order.

Also consider alternative programs with significantly better features and sometimes higher cost.

Close - add the pushpin(s) as you want them, then excport the map of the desired area for PocketPC. When exported, in addition to the map file there will be a pushpin file. Make sure both are copied to PocketPC.

Pushpins are great for purely visual navigation, and best if you have a passenger to read the map :-)

Is there any easy way to get files into the card? I use Audible and would like to load those in the card as well.
I guess my next device will be the gps with the pocket pc included.

Cradle your 2215. Open Explore in the AS window. a file window will open showing all the files in main memory of your PPC. At the top left is a PPC icon. Double click it and you will be at the root of your PPC. There you will see Windows, Programs,... and SD or CF card folders if the cards are installed. Double click the card folder and then you can drag whatever files from your desktop into the card window. You can also drag files off your cards onto your PC.

I would recommend creating a My Documents Folder on each flash card. Files in that folder wuill be combined with files in My Documents in the main device in File Dialog boxes.

P.S. You might consider a BlueTooth GPS first. The 2215 does support BT and will give you good performance. The advantage is that you can change PPCs without havng to replace the GPS with it. Unless you are specifically looking for a GPS solution and the PIM features are gravy to you, it would be more economical.

You might want to invest in a card reader as well, if you're regularly transferring large files. Also, Audible Manager on the desktop can send files to your PDA on its own (edit: you can also specify where you're sending the files to and it's also way faster than Activesync in this), though you need to have an Activesync connection established first.

I bought the HP bluetooth GPS for Christmas. It works great. If i could get streetes and trips to show the route on the map it would be perfect. Now it just shows my position. I thought if the map were loaded into the card it would have more memory and show the route too.

When I travel with the laptop and the gps it shows the route and gives voice directions. I was hopeing the pocket pc version would as well.

Thanks for all the info. The manual just tells how too install and remove the card, not how to get files into it. Now I can play some more.

You can save the directions. Edit>Copy Directions and paste into Notepad or Word Doc.

It doesn't, it won't, you can't make it. All Pocket Streets does is what you have accomplished, shows you where you are. Keep in mind what you paid for Pocket Streets, $0. It came free with Streets and Trips.

If you want routing, voice guidance, etc, you have to shell out a bit for those features. There are several good applications, but none are especially cheap. The major expense is the map data licensing the software vendors need to pass on to the consumer. Some, like Mapopolis, make that very clear. The program is free, maps cost you. It is one of the cheaper options at $100 for the whole US, but it's still $100 (with all the routing and GPS support). Probably the cheapest full featured option is DeLorme's Street Atlas Handheld. It works, it just has a weird way of doing things, just like DeLorme's desktop apps. Their size, popularity, and volume though are likely what lets them keep their price low.
