Brand New Axim X51v &/or Active Sync problems

Hello Everyone,

I currently own an Axim X30i and love it. I purchased an X51v for my Father for Christmas.

When I tried to sync the X51v to my pc to install some other software...the handheld failed to connect.

I made sure to upgrade Active Sync (currently running version 4.1.0).

Here's what happens:

1) connect usb cable to computer
2) turn on X51v
3) place it in cradle
4) active sync /computer "senses" handheld and attempts to connect
5) little green icon on active sync swirls incessantly
6) nothing else happens..green icon swirls on and on and on..

A couple of other notes...my X30i syncs with no problem. I disconnect my X31i before attempting to connect the X51v.

All necessary software from the X51v CD has been installed.

I've attempted syncing with 3 desktops and experience the same issue...my X31i syncs...but the X51v doesn't...

I've tried deleting all existing partnerships...

I've tried soft and hard resetting the X51v...

Using the "get connected" wizard...etc

Nothing seems to help...the green logo swirls and swirls and swirls (and sometimes seems to laugh at me)...

Has anyone else experienced this problem!?!?!?!

I had a similar situation when I tried to connect my Universal for the first time.
Since new AS is using network protocols, you should check if you have anything running or installed that could block the communication.
Firewall, VPN software...

Disable or uninstal this things and then try to connect the Axim again. It worked for me.

Disabling the firewall software worked...and...it seem to sync ok as long as I have the firewall disabled.

that's going to be really anoying if my Dad will have to turn off all the firewall stuff each time he wants to sync up his handheld....

Oh Well...that problem has been solved...for the moment...

I even managed to break the VPN Client on my work notebook. Since nothing helps I guess full reinstall will have to be done. And I guess AS 4 will only run on my home PC until such issues are fixed.
