I was going to post this as a reply to "what is your favorite 2005 ppc" but I realized after writing that it veered too far off topic. It is a rant but I need to get it off my chest. In the morning I will probably not be so peeved but I wonder if anyone else has similar thoughts.
------------------------------
WM05 is slow. It is a big disappointment for users who need speed and prefer not to have to soft reset regularly as the RAM dwindles.
MS just copied Palm again for their NV solution instead of being inventive and arriving at solution that protects against loss of battery power while still retaining the speed of volatile RAM.
I sent PPCTechs a request this weekend to see if they can install at T2T RAM drive in WM05 devices. If the OS can recognize the fast, volatile T2T drive then I might get around this problem.
The bluetooth manager changing for every version of WM is another headache. MS should remember that some companies actually use the BT manager for product and need to document it so these changes cause what seems to be unnecessary documentation including customer instructions (i.e. user manuals) and support.
Then the devices: why must VGA be a brick? Not all enterprise users are sales: I don't need a phone in my PDA, or a meager 1990s-esq camera either. And CF cards are the past, I don't have enough room in my pocket for nostalgia. If the n311 makes it to this shore then maybe HP will rush to put a VGA screen in better RAM/ROM enabled h1950. THAT would be a worthwhile device to me, especially if PPCTechs and can install a T2T for fast read/write applications.
So do I have a favorite? Yes, it's called saving my money until a small, fast, VGA device comes out. For the job, I just bought x51s because they're cheap.
