Okay, let's rewind a week. First, there were the rumours stemming from Firstloox.org about an upcoming Pocket LOOX N560 with an Intel XScale 624MHz processor, 64MB RAM, 256MB ROM, VGA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and the Intel 2700g GPU. Next came apparent confirmation that this device was indeed in the making, with a Pocket PC Phone Edition also in the works. Then on Tuesday, SoloPalmari released a list of specs and a mock-up of the Phone Edition.

Of course, rumours being rumours, they can be falsified in a flash. Off we go to Firstloox.org again where they now have some confirmed reports on these two devices. First, contrary to popular belief, the high-end LOOX (of which the N560 tag is still unconfirmed) will not have an Intel 2700g GPU. Second, you might have to let go all that geeky goodness that you felt over the Phone Edition (designated as the T800) - the device's specifications are quite unlike what was quoted a couple of days ago (for better or worse).

To counter what might be a traumatic ordeal for you in this never-ending rollercoaster ride of rumours, here is a remedy. Look outside - the sun is shining and the birds are chirping (hopefully). Go out and enjoy it and pretend these rumours do not exist. Mm'kay?

Oh just rub it in, why don't you? Most of us aren't lucky enough to be in the southern hemisphere this time of year, you know... Right now it's 13 degrees below freezing out here. Trust me that there is neither the sun nor a chirping bird here, my friend. I doubt birds could chirp at this temperature even if they wanted to.

Yeah, I was just about to say, where I am it's winter. And more to the point, it's nighttime.

Well it's suprisingly sunny here today. Cold but sunny.

So in spirit of the original post, I'm not too dissapointed about this. Maybe the next rumours will be better...

Well, I'm glad the photo is not what the phone edition will look like. With all those features, it would stink if it looked LIKE THAT. If I don't get the E-TEN M600 by then, I'll take a look at this other device...

What a dissapointment that the N560 will lack a 2700g graphics card :(

Guess I'll have to wait even longer to get a new PDA and see what HP and Dell have up their sleeves... :/

So this means that they r still gonna realse a neat Phone Edition but not with these features, right?

If FirstLoox.org's reports are factual, then yes.

Hmm this makes it tougher to decide between the Fujitsu-Siemens "N560" in Feb and the Acer n311 nowish.

From memory, the "N560" rumoured specs have:

- GPS
- 256MB ROM instead of 128MB ROM with n311
- 624MHz Intel CPU vs. 400MHz Samsung CPU with n311
- 802.11g vs. 802.11b with n311

But the Acer n311 is also apparently smaller/lighter, and much cheaper ($400 vs. $700)?

i'm kind of glad to hear this, because i was seriously doubting wich devise to choose, the acer n311 or the n560

now i feel safe to go with the n311

A T800 series Pocket Loox, released mid-2006 - yes. As to its features - I'm only aware of one or two of them - and those are neat yes...! :)

The Acer devices still lack the Dell x50v/ HP 4700 in terms of performance...

Only added feature it has is USB host, but the large performance hit doesn't seem worth it.
