I’ve been watching the new generation to see what it offers and have been thinking of upgrading to a new Windows Mobile 5 device. So when I had the opportunity recently to have a trial run with four new devices now available in New Zealand and running Windows Mobile 5 I thought I might write a buyers guide of sorts highlighting the points that I found were key to making the decision for me."</i><br /><br />Darryl Burling has written up a nice buyers guide to the newest devices out there, helping out new users and old alike but summarizing their most important attributes. Avoid confusion by reading the guide!

I like the laymans approach to the review. Just the facts man!

A good article, though you can tell he's a Pocket PC guy and not a Smartphone guy - he kind of glossed over the fact that the SP5 is a phone first and foremost. ;-)

I have similar dilemma that the guy in the article. I really want WM5 Phone Edition, but I can decide between 2 available devices.
Universal is too big and clumsy to be really usable as an everyday phone and the price does not help. But it's such a great gadget.
Wizzard on the other hand has the right form factor, but QVGA screen, lack of UMTS, miniSD and lame CPU are real downers.
I would love to have both, but since I'm not rich I'll have to decide for one or wait for something else.
