Not a new concept, I know, but in my opinion the first 2GB version of this SD card with USB port, made by INX Japan and called YouSD II."</i> <br /><br /> <img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/2gbusbsd.jpg" /><br /><br />I've always been a bit nervous of those memory cards that have USB components. I like my flash memory to be solid with no moving mechanical parts. Still, I can't deny that it's a lot more versatile to be able to plug a memory card straight into any computer. Have any of you guys had particularly good or bad experiences with these kind of devices and has one ever snapped on you?

Hmm...."YouSD" looks a lot like "Used" to me. Interesting marketing idea.

I used to be interested in buying one of these, but I picked up a small, mobile SD card reader for $20 that is the size of a Bic lighter. It fits the bill quite nicely and I don't have to worry that something is going to break. It has a key ring with it so it resides on the key fob in my briefcase.

I have the the SD version of this card (only 1 gb) and it's fantastic. If I need to copy something, I pop the card out of my PDA, plug into the computer and download what I need. It's extremely handy and appears quite fast (if plugged into a USB 2.0 slot). I would easily buy an upgrade to 2.0 gb.

Still, I would be afraid that it would break.

If this card hits the mainstream, it's only a matter of time before the computer-illerate of the world start referring to USB ports as USD ports, rather than the UBS ports that they currently call them.

If anyone spots these for sale will you please let us know?

I've had three of the SanDisk 1GB SD Plus cards on order from Buy.com since October, and they still haven't shipped it.

Then that's how we'll spot the computer illiterates then. There's always a silver lining......
