Hi all,

(I am using Windows Mobile 2003, WinCE 4.20, on a PiN 570 & MS ActiveSync 3.7.1)

Does any body know where the "profile name" is stored on my PC?

To cut a long story short each time I have to perform a hard reset , I go to synchronise I go to Synchronise but am told that the profile already exists - create a new one.

I am now on PocketPC17 (!)

I have deleted the profile in C:\Documents and Settings\Nicolas\My Documents and have even searched "regedit" for PocketPC entries.

I have also tried using activesync (File>Delete Partnership) but the option to delete old profiles is not available.

Any help much appreciated.

To make Activesync work you have to bring up the name of the old profile under mobile devices first then use delete partnership to get rid of it. Sounds like you missed a step.

On the PC:

\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners

On the PPC:

\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\Partners

Edit: BTW, Don't Panic is quite right - all you really have to do is delete the old partnership and then make a new one with the same name. You even get the option of retaining the sync folder, which will automatically be picked up by your PDA.
