U bet, but actually this would have been a perfect device for me if it had WLAN & at least 320*320 screen resolution

I spoke with my company's Verizon rep., and they told me that it (the 700w) will be released sometime between mid-December and mid-January. He also told me it will be impossible to miss the "hoopla" surrounding the launch.

I can hardly wait!

Now I have to choose between this critter and the Samsung i730.

I've always wanted a ppcphone device, but one thing always stops me. How do you carry it around? You can't put it in your pocket...even if it's small enough the screen is too fragile. And I've done the belt clip/holster thing before and didn't like it.

Put it in your pocket, faced in. I have done this for a long time with my ppc's and had no problems.

Carrying around a Phone Edition is tough, especially with devices that are as cluncky as, say, the JASJAR. I usually opt for one of two methods...

1) Keep the clamshell closed and in a large pocket, thus protecting the screen face and use a Bluetooth or wired hands-free set. When you need to make/receive a call, you can do so via the headset.

2) Keep the face flipped around and exposed and kept face-in in a pocket that shouldn't receive too much jumbling. A screen protector is a must, even though the metalic surfaces should be able to take a bump pretty well.

I'd rather Phone Editions be more pocket-able, but I still tend to lean toward the "full-bells-and-whistles-awe-inspiring" package. It's petty, I know, but I take pleasure in petty things.

I carried around my i-mate JAM with just a screen protector in my pants pocket all the time. Eventually, after several months, the metal casing showed small signs of wear, but nothing dramatic.

I eventually sold my JAM and switched to Verizon for the i730, but really disliked it compared to the JAM. Since then, I've been without a PPC of any kind and am hotly anticipating the new Treo 700w.

I'll let you know after I pick up one of these.

I guess the device would have come out sooner, but VZW is trying to figure out how to charge $0.01 per keyboard button pressed.

Just get a 6700! :) No problem for me!

But I must say that Treo would look good with a Sprint/Nextel logo on it!

I've seen the older Treos in stores and they seemed remarkably small and pocket-sized to me.

Too little to late for me. Just jumped ship from T-Mobile to Sprint for 6700. After teetering back and forth between going to Verizon or Sprint, I chose Sprint because of the cheap data and well the 6700's got WiFi that's not Verizonified (read: crippled) where the 700w doesn't even have WiFi and not too mention that goofy 240x240 display. If it was 320x320 I might have bit but too many little issues added up to me going with Sprint.

Same here... but i have not heard back from him yet :(

I'm actually just going to buy it outright but should still get a steep corp. discount... if not my new girlfriend has worked for VZW for about 15 years so i might hit her up for it...she is in credit so she dosnt have any info on any products before anyone asks :)

Its now live... on vzw.com.

Good sign that release is very close. I'd say very early Jan at the latest...but i've been saying that all along :)

Hope they surprise us with a release next week!

I was using a Treo 600 last year, and now I'm on the Samsung i730. Both are awesome devices. I think the Treo 700 w/ Windows Mobile will be the biggest seller ever among PDA & PDA/Phone.

New Treo will only be really big seller when GSM/GPRS/EDGE and possibly UMTS version is released. Until then it is just a device for rather small niche market.

And with low resolution, why would someone want this instead of smaller WM5 Smartphones with real QVGA.
