hello there everyone. :) i'm new to these forums, and i'm in need of some educated opinions. i am aware that there is a similiar topic already posted, but i would like a few other concerns that i have about these two devices to be addressed.

i am trying to decide not only whether to go with the i730 or the ppc 6700, but also whether to go with verizon or sprint as my service provider.

i need a pocket pc that allows me to use the familiar internet explorer interface for my websurfing (i'm assuming both have this capability?), as well as to be able to access web data quickly and efficiently. i'm not terribly concerned about added features, but as these two phones are similiar in price, i want to know which one is going to give me the best web functionality and phone coverage.

i have looked over the specs of both phones, but i'm still at a loss for which would be the best overall. please let me know which you all prefer!

I would say definatly the 6700. The i730 is yesterday's news, its running WM2003SE and (IMO) just plain ugly/bulky, and uncomfortable to hold.

The 6700 is a breakthrough for a pocket pc phone, I've never seen one smaller. My boss got one, and we compared it to my Dell Axim x50v, and its about the size of just the screen on my axim. =P

Data will be fast as anything, with built in evdo AND wifi.Plus, if you're into text/IM/email, the 6700's keyboard has a great feel.

I'll let the users of the devices comment, but just wanted to add: from waht I've heard unofficially, Verizon is supposed to be selling the XV6700 (the same device as the PPC-6700) sometime early next year.

6700 looks like a nice phone. I love my i-730.

Size-wise they look pretty comparable

6700
Size: 4.25 x 3 x 1 inches. Weight: 6.07 ounces.

i-730
Size: 4.49H x 2.28W x 0.97D inches Weight: 6.44 oz

The 6700 looks like it has some nice specs. Slower CPU but some nice features. And the keyboard form factor is awesome.

Unless you are willing to wait, I think it comes down to network preference. Sprints EVDO network is still not as well developed Verizon’s. For me considering they are both great phones. Verizon’s coverage and speed makes it the winner.

Well said. A ferret keyboard is only marginally useful regardless of its configuration. WM5 should be better, but AS 4 may not. WM5 coming to i730 anyway, but I may pass on it unless it offeres something I can't live without.

Based on network, VZW is the winner.

Is it just me, or does the 6700 looks really bulky and ugly? I'm not sure how you can say the i730 is bulkier than the PPC6700.

And its definitely not the smallest. that would go (up until recently) to the HTC Magician.

It's not. If you look at the specs you will see that the 6700 is a bit shorter and a bit wider then the i730. The i-730 has a very comfortable form factor. I have been using it since August and couldn't be happier.

If anything At least for me, Width is more important in comfort/use, and the I-730 has a narrower girth
