Now, when are US carriers going to start selling it already!? :| (The answers if you're curious: Cingular is rumored to release it within the next few weeks, and on T-Mobile in January...)

Keyboard really looks nice to me..looks a deadly contender to PALM TREO AND WIN MOBILE TREO.

Looks like imate has already made up their mind to elimate TREO from market..now they have three PPCP's having in-built keyboard :D

Huraah for 'em !!

iMate is just a reseller, as are Qtek, O2, Orange, Dopod, TMobile etc etc. If there is any strategy involved I'd imagine its HTC's.

Treo still has it beat on size!

Performance seems slow. I wonder how much faster the Qtek 9100 is (less software).

yeah i read on howardforums that people are speculating January for the Cingular release (hope it's earlier, but i doubt it) :( and all though this ppc/phone might be my next possible purchase i've been quite 'scared' of all the problems and bugs people have been complaining about, but then again the problems could be due to third party applications that are incompatible with WM5...i don't know there seems to be a line of confusion with the K-JAM/QTEK etc. and all these supposed problems people are having while some others find this convergence device amazing :? hmm wizard or m600 keyboard or no keyboard decisions decisions

Not really. Its design makes you think its larger than it is. Once you pick it up from the box it comes in, you will be surprised by its small size  .
Take a look at these Wizard VS Treo images:

well we've got a Qtek 9100 and its slooow. well, it is compared to my XDA 2. just seems clunky. nice device though, and we're just waiting for Vodafone Business UK to pull their finger out so we can get some more of them (£25 :D)

I have a K-Jam and it's great. From time to time it is a bit slow, I didn't quite figured why yet, but 90% of the time it's as fast as you wanted it to be, with no delays. But sometimes you have to wait about 30 seconds before it respeonds, but when it does, the following operations are performed very quickly. The camera app does pack a punch and it's a very slow app, but in general I'm quite pleased with the device.

About the qtek having less apps, you can access the hidden rom and remove them so that it runs a little faster. You can even use the rom as an extra 10mb file storage.

Pardon the question if the answer is obvious, but how does one go about removing items from the KJam/Qtek ROM?

The first post of this thread (http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=739128) explains how.

I played around with the Sprint Apache at my local sprint store for about 30 mins and didn't notice any speed problems. Camera function was also quite fast to load and use. I like the look of the cingular one better though.

There's an easier way to do it without Total Commander, Joe Levi. Go here:
http://www.beyondthetech.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=42
and download the application from the link in the thread (you will have to register in the forum, first). That you you will have full access to the ROM in any application, which is better that the total commander solution, btw.

If you have a k-jam, I also advise you to enable the keyboard status indicator (that way you can know if you are in dot mode or caps lock mode).
For this follow the directions here: http://www.beyondthetech.com/blogs/kjam/2005/10/am-i-in-shift-caps-or-dot-mode.html.
