View Full Version : Spontaneous Hard Resets of hx4700 when cradling

I rarely use my cradle, chosing to sync by WiFi, but recently when I needed to do so, I inserted my hx4700 into the cradle while the iPAQ was turned on and it hard reset. This has happened several times since.

If anyone else has had this problem, please let me know how you solved it.

Thanks

It might be a software problem. Any particular programs installed when you witnessed this behaviour?

Thanks, Darius.

I suspect that it might have something to do (duh!) with the crimped three connector pins, on the left side of the iPAQ connector (when looking at the back). I was able to straighten two, and one broke off.

When I cradled the iPAQ after that, it did not hard reset.

Of course, I have no idea what sort of problems the missing pin might cause. It apparently does not interfere with syncing or restoring, as that's taking place right now.

Hmm, yeah, it could be a hardware problem then. I haven't looked into the iPAQ's pin configuration, but what I suggest you do is identify which pin has broken off (it should be one of the twenty-two), call HP, and then see if it's a mandatory pin. If it is, have it repaired.

What might have caused the hard-reset was a short circuit of some sort.
