Please keep us posted about water-resistant headphones too if you find one - I'd like too to listen to some stuff while swimming.

I saw an article somewhere a few months back about a chap who had built bone-conduction 'speakers' into the headstrap of his swimming goggles, so that he could listen to music whilst pounding the pool. I don't know if this ever turned into a commercial product, but if it did it sounds like what you would need. I'll try to turn the article up and then edit this post, but I've got a lot on over the next few days, so you may get to it before I do.

Also, there's:
http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/news_mp3player2.html

which is an iRiver iFP-300 Series MP3 Player in a case with waterproof headphones. There are also versions for the 700 series iRiver and iPod versions. They have "SV" up to 3 meters and "DV" up to 60 meters (DV includes additional amplifier for headphones due to the pressure.

Otterbox looks to be ok to 1 meter. The AquaPaks look to be 3 meters and in both cases you need to purchase waterproof headphones such as:

http://www.waterproofcases.net/headphones.html

or

http://www.waterproofcases.net/waterphones.html

If you're buying a waterproof case for audio, make sure it is still waterproof when you route the headphone wire through it.

There's also couple of roundups of waterproof MP3 players here
