I am no longer going to put articles about Palm, Inc. in "The Competition" section since they have the Treo 700w coming out in a few months, and now more than ever, interest in Palm, Inc. can directly impact Windows Mobile users. There have been a few things going on this week.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/hansberry/palmlogo.gif" /><br /><br />• Palm's chief executive <a href="http://go.theregister.com/feed/http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/11/09/palm_states_palm_os_support/">denies there is any pullback</a> in support for their PalmOS line of products.<br />• Rumors of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000130067101/">RIM buying Palm</a>. This could really benefit RIM if they <a href="http://www.betanews.com/article/RIM_Hits_Legal_Roadblock_in_Patent_Suit/1131564405">lose the patent suit</a> on their push technology.<br />• Finally, Palm continues to open retail stores. They have <a href="http://www.palm.com/us/company/pr/news_feed_story.epl?reqid=779488">opened 5 in the last few weeks</a>.

Ok so Palm makes a Windows Mobile device and then RIM buys Palm. So then RIM makes a WM device? I love it. 8)

PALM IS DEAD!
Until they make good that 20-1 "REVERSE" stock split that cost me money back when they were a two dollar and change stock. :)

Still another week has past in which NOT a SINGLE "journalist" has managed to even ASK Palm about whether or not they will update the millions of existing Treo 650s/LifeDrives/etc. (EAS-Licensed devices) to use Direct Push...a feature Microsoft has stated Palm CAN implement under its existing Exchange ActiveSync License (EAS).
How is that you keep missing this story?

The Treos will live in the Pocket PC Phone Edition forum...no, wait. That's not right. ;)

There should be something for the Palm WM Devices section at least.

So really, IS there any competition for PPC these days? I guess non-WM smartphones and blackberries, but I see those as geared towards a different market then PDAs.
