Does anybody have any info on this device (good and bad). I have an old Hitachi G1000 with Sprint that is virtually worthless and was wondering about the functionality of the newest Sprint devices. (other carriers are not an option :( )

As a round-up, the device appears to be a solid performer and I'll think you'll be happy with it if you were to scoop one up.

I've had mine for almost a week and it's all good. The size is very nice for not looking like a geek  and so far it performs very well.

Had mine for about a month. Not to many issues other than a dearth of accessories. Guess that is to be expected. A few improvements I would make would be to have a VGA screen and more ROM, like the new x51v with 256mb ROM. Wifi, BT and the availability of always on EV-DO from Sprint make this sweet device otherwise.

We've only had our 6700s for a few days, but thorougly impressed so far. We've been through every version of the HTC PPCs before this, and lots of them had issues, but so far this one is near-perfect. The only issue I've come up with is a random occasional lockup when using it as a bluetooth modem with my PowerBook.

Sprint's EV-DO network is fast and stable.

Previously, I used an Audiovox XV6600 and got the PPC6700 a few weeks ago. This is the device that I have been waiting for, it is great. Compared to the XV6600, here is what I like:

- battery life is much better (not perfect, but MUCH better)
- when the battery runs out on the XV6600, all data is lost, not on the PPC6700
- PPC6700 has incredible one hand operation
- PPC6700 CAN be used as a tethered modem
- PPC6700 is smaller
- PPC6700 can be charged with a USB cable only (you need to bring charger for XV6600)

To reinforce some important aspects of this device:

1) Great improvements in ease of use...one hand operation is exceptionally easy with the 5-way directional point and WM5 buttons (OK, start menu, and left and right function keys)
2) Sliding out the keyboard is easy and stiff and the screen rotation is fairly quick
3) The EVDO can be very quick...impressive data connectivity
4) The size is perfect
5) The belt case is exceptionally nice...compared to others

-1) The included software is lacking

Hope this helps!

Truly the best device we've had, and we've both gone through a LOT of them.

Alright, I bought one a few weeks ago and so far - it's great.

Does anyone know when they may start releasing some accessories for it? It would be nice to have a spare battery and a car charger.

For a car charger, you might want to check out the Lil' Sync Pro Retractable Sync-n-Charge Cable (http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~Sprint_PPC-6700-506~area~accessories-Lil%27+Sync%AE+Pro+Retractable+Sync%2DN%2DCharge+Cables.htm) coupled with the USB Car Adapter (http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~Sprint_PPC-6700-506~area~accessories-Lil%27+Sync%AE+Cable+Accessories~item~USB-AUTOADPT01.htm).

This is what I'm planning on doing. The nice thing about that particular car adaptor is that you can plug any USB device into it and get charged. I'm going to get the Bluespoon AX2 headset that is also charged via USB (happens to use the same mini-plug too I think) so I don't have to have all kinds of wires laying around my car, and I don't have to worry as much about my BT headset crapping out on me. :)

What I would love is an extended battery for this thing like I've seen available for the 6600. But I suppose my need for it will be far less once I get the car charger.

Edit: Oh yeah. If you haven't already, try Microsoft Voice Command (use the ad on this site). It is AWESOME with this device. The only thing that has frustrated me about that program is that it does what it does SO well, I find myself wishing it could integrate even furthur with the OS and give Voice->Text dictation for emails. How cool would it be to dictate emails while you're driving?

I can dream, can't I?

Maybe in a new version of Voice Command? Who knows? ;)

Glad to see you like the program. I think it's great for any Phone Edition device, not just the PPC-6700.
