Ok, I setup a virtual PC XP Pro with Virtual PC 7 so that I could upgrade my X50 to WM5 and guess what...I can't get the device to be found in the virtual PC activesync. I can see it on the virtual PC USB properties as "unknown usb device" yet I can't get it to work with the actual XP Pro with activesync.

Anyone have any success at this? Any hints/tips? I can't seem to find many success stories, but I do see people saying "Well you should be fine if you have Virtual PC".

Thanks for any help.

I used to USB Activesync an iPaq via VPC running both XP and 2000 from Mac OS 10.3 many, many times without issue. Others could never get a single sync to ever work and declared USB syncing "broken" in VPC.

The truth is that it works and works very reliably BUT I have found very specific sequences of plugging in the USB cord, etc are essential for success.

I posted comments on all the procedures to follow here:

If you use Pocket Mac or Missing Sync, they may be interfering with the Axim's USB connection passing through to Virtual PC.
