Ive got a IPAQ 2110 with Media player 9, my mate has just bought a IPAQ 4705 with media player 9, when he watches a film on it it shows it in a very small window but on my 2110 its full screen, we used the same film to test and its still the same, we've gone through all the settings and there is no change. is there a diffreence in the OS (mines on WM2003 first edition and his is on second edition) or in the screen type (his is a VGA screen) we have tried a demo version of Pocket TV and this puts the same film full screen on the 4700 but media player wont.
also is there any where we can download media player 10??

I could be wrong - usually am - but isn't the video being smaller something to do with the 4700 being a VGA device?
Anyway this is the Media Player 10 page :
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/windowsmobile/default.aspx
At the bottom it states :
HOW DO I GET PLAYER 10 MOBILE?
Windows Media Player 10 Mobile is available on Windows Mobile-based devices running Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition or later. The devices come in various shapes and sizes designed to fit your lifestyle and budget. Windows Media Player 10 Mobile is not available for download from Microsoft.
The following devices have Windows Media Player 10 Mobile installed:
- Audiovox SMT-5600 from Cingular
- Dell Axim X50
- Samsung i730 from Verizon
Due in Fall 2005
- Hw 6515 from Cingular
The following devices are upgradeable to Windows Media Player 10 Mobile:
- HP iPAQ rx3100
- HP iPAQ rx3400
- HP iPAQ rx3700
- Dell Axim X30
I remember when I had my hx2410 I had to do the rom update from the HP site to get Media Player10. :)
Like from here :
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/download/22776.html
Under which it says
Enhancements
- Provides an improved Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer.
- Provides an improved Microsoft Windows Media Player.
- Enables more than one Settings application to be active at the same time.
I think that means WMP10.
Might want to wait for clarification tho. :)

I can confirm that WM9 on a VGA device does not stretch 320x240 video to fill the screen. In fact, the WM10 "Windows Media Player Mobile FAQ" says:
5.8 Can I view QVGA video in full-screen mode on a VGA device?
Some newer devices have larger displays that support VGA resolutions (480 x 640 pixels). If you try to use Windows Media Player 10 Mobile to play a QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) video in full-screen mode on a VGA device, depending upon the device and the codec that was used to encode the content, the video might not be scaled to fill the entire screen. It might only be displayed at 240 x 320 pixels.

That's why 3rd=party media players like Beta Player - replaced by some rediculously long and impossible to remember name - are so popular on VGA devices.
Tell your friend to download and install Beta Player - oh here you go ... The Core Pocket Media Player, 'TCPMP', http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about

That Microsoft page with the list of devices updated for WMP10 Mobile is a bit out of date.
Yes, I can confirm that the latest hx2000 series ROM update does include WMP10 Mobile. Alternatively, the Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade for the hx2000 series includes a slightly updated version of WMP10 Mobile which includes ratings support.

The latest hx4700 ROM update also includes WMP10 Mobile. Unfortunately, the Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade for the device has been delayed until next year. Nevertheless, you can grab the latest ROM update to upgrade your version of Media Player.

As SteveHoward999 has suggested, TCPMP is definitely worth a look as a complimentary player to WMP.

TCPMP doesn't behave the same on my WM5PE devices. I'm using version .66l and it won't catch WMP streams and play them on my JasJar but it does work on my PPC2003SEPE SCH-i730 device. The registry hack to fix this is out there but I'm gping to wait for picard to update the player.

Sorry this problem was not addressed in the latest release. I'am not sure how to solve it. That registry hack seems a little drastic. But I recently updated my X50v to WM5 and will check it out.
