View Full Version : Best case ever made for any PDA

I have owned many PDAs over the last few years and have found a universal "case" that allows me to carry anyone of them around safely and securely. I bought several leather cases and metal cases but never found one that I really liked until about a year ago.

I don't really care much for my HP 4700 so I don't carry it around much even though it fits in this same universal case as my Palm T5.

It is light weight, has a snug fit and is invisible to the casual observer. Its also cheap....you can buy it at Target or Wal Mart.

I am a business professional(actuary) that usually wears a dress shirt, T-shirt, slacks and leather shoes. This wonderful case that I talk about is simply a "Hanes pocket T shirt"....or you can get the "fruit of the loom" economy model if you are on a tight budget.

Seriously, a simple pocket t-shirt is great. I usually wear a button up oxford shirt with a pocket t-shirt beneath it. A pocket tshirt is much faster than any leather or metal case and much less obtrusive.....

This is probably not a new idea, but boy is it a good one(at least for me)

Actually, don't know if I've thought of this. Certainly thinking outside the box, but inside the pocket. ;)

I need to get a "new" unit since my old one broke. Sounds like you would NOT recommend the HP 4700.

The 4700 is very nice and if I could get accustomed to the touch pad I may like it.
I primarily use my PDA for reading ebooks and, in my opinion the 4700 is not a good choice for that purpose. I have a problem "turning" pages with the touchpad. When I turn a page sometimes it does as expected and other times it skips several pages. (sometimes it goes backwards) I often read in my bed at night beneath the blankets, inevitably one of my fingers will touch the touchpad and I loose my place in the book.

I would probably spend more time "mastering" the touchpad if the 4700 display was better. The 4700 has nice screen resolution and the colors are brilliant. However, side by side the T5 seems brighter and is much easier to read.

Having said that, the 4700 is probably a better performer. I have not really compared them formally, but the 4700 does handle WIKIPEDIA better than the T5.
