Is Socket's Wifi Companion supposed to automatically connect to hotspots?

Is Socket's Wifi Companion supposed to automatically hook up to wifi hotspots that are open wifi? mine doesn't seem to link up with them unless I do it manually.....

I don't believe it does - unless it's a network you've connected to before, where the settings already exist.

I bought wifi too. If you are looking for something to scan and connect, wifi companion is not for you. I removed wifi and installed Hitchhiker which will scan and connect while I am driving down the street to various WAPs.

I also had problems with WiFi Companion and I think it has an issue with NAT because even when it connected it did not always work. Had to soft reset to get it to play. It just doesnt do a great job at jumping between networks.

Hitchhiker works great for me
