If you're not after something with EDGE or UMTS support, then you might want to check out what the M600 has to offer. I was going to get a new cell phone yesterday cause mine is having issues. I thought I'll hold out just a couple of more weeks. Now I don't have to!

I just discovered that some company called TrendsMobile is going to sell a modified Eten m500 without a camera.

Looks like a possible replacement for my e830, however, does anyone know if either the m500 or the m600 has the ability to act as USB-host? I really don't want to give that feature up... it's been the one thing that keeps my e830 from being upgraded!

The best I can tell, is that the m500 does have USB-Host. But I haven't ever tried it. I think there is a cable and maybe a piece of software necessary.

You shouldn't need any additional software - I never did with my e830. Just plug in a USB keyboard and you should be able to start typing right away. If you want to use a mass-storage device, like a USB Memory key or USB external Hard Drive then in WM2003SE you would need an additional driver. Personally I use a USB keyboard and mouse, Apple iPod Shuffle (as a memory key) and an 80GB external USB HD with my Toshiba e830 - which is what I would want to do with my next device aswell!

By today's standards, it's reasonably-sized. Consider the i-mate JAM (HTC Magician) which I'm sure you're well aware of. The JAM is 18.1mm thick. The M600 is 22mm thick. The i-mate K-JAM (HTC Wizard) is 23.7mm thick.

The M500 supported USB-Host, though I can't say for sure if the M600 is in the same boat. Nevertheless, I will let you know in two weeks. ;)
