I currently use an Audiovox 6601 with Sprint's unlimited data plan however, the phone and plan are paid for by my employer. I am considering the purchase of a comparable setup for my personal use (as we all know, employers come and go).
Here are my questions.....I am pleased with the 6601 but wonder if anything new is looming on the horizon which might be better (maybe smaller?) as well as the new WM 5 devices. Anyone have any personal favorites?
Who has the best data/minutes plan? I will need at least 2000 minutes/mo and unlimited data as I travel quite a bit. Anyone have a favorite?
Thanks in advance.

Where are you located? Where do you typically travel to?

I have a Qtek 9100 (HTC Wizard) and use it with TMobile's unlimited data plan combined with my family plan minutes (free mobile to mobile, nights and weekends, etc). I bought one for my wife too so she could enjoy the data connectivity.

Can't advise on the plan to get, but I second the recommendation of the Wizard. It's an awesome device, and does so much. The combo of quadband and EDGE is perfect for the US. Also, its small size and built in thumboard make it great for email, msn and websurfing on the go.
This message was sent from my K-JAM (one of several wizard variants) over GPRS using the fantastic PPCT Mobile-format forum!!!

Although I've been a huge proponent of GSM, and used it for about 7 years, these days EV-DO kicks butt over EDGE, and costs about the same. You can get unlimited EDGE 140k with T-Mobile for $20/mo or unlimited EV-DO 800k with Sprint for $25....hmm... And with two phones on Sprint, our second data plan is $12.50 for unlimited 800k speed! So it's actually less expensive with a two-phone plan.

I recently purchased the Samsung i730 w Verizon. This ia a nice sized device with EV-DO coverage and 1XRTT coverage in outlying areas. I have never lost a signal and have only dropped two calls in over a month of heavy business use. This unit has a nice backlit treo style keyboard and many nice features. It just won CNET best pocket pc phone award.

The i730 is a great device. We were going to get one until we compared it to the PPC-6700, which has a much more usable keyboard. Overall though, both are great and very small form factor.
