View Full Version : HELP - PIE File Save to dialogue

Usually, when I download a cab file or mpeg direct to my PPC via PIE I get the file save dialogue box asking me where I want to save the file.
For some reason I seem to have lost this - I just tried to download a small mpeg file and instead of getting the dialogue it just started downloading to the My Documents folder in the main memory.
I assume this is controlled by a registry setting somewhere that I must have changed somehow. Any ideas?

try this tweak. While Gerard wrote the guide originally for CAB file behavior, it also modifies the "save to" dialog. it means you can save in a much more flexible manner. e.g. ANYWHERE!

Well it turns out the culprit was The Core Media Player.
I had set the file associations for mpeg, wmv, and avi to TCMP and for some reason whenever I tried to download a file of those types it skipped the file save dialogue and just downloaded them to My Documents in main memory.
Once I removed the file association things went back to normal.
Not sure why this happened - I am sure it never happened with older builds of TCMP (beta player at the time).

I've just posted a tutorial on bugfixing the file association at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=310&more=1
