The past week or so my 4155 will no longer connect to my home wireless access point. The ipaq connects with no problems to any other wifi spot (office, cafes, etc.) and I have no issues with other people connecting to my access point. I have basically given up attempting to get this device to connect. I have no idea why it would just suddenly stop working.

What I want to know is there a way to reset these devices to a state of zero config. I know a couple of times when I left the device on and the battery wore down I had to re-install and re-configure everything. Aside from just leaving it on all night is there another way?

Also, if I should ever need to re-install the OS, how would I go about doing this? HP did not provide an OS CD along with the unit. Can this be ordered from MS or HP?

If you want to try doing a hard reset to see if it will fix your problems, you need to be aware that all your settings and data will be lost. You can do a hard reset by pressing and holding the power button while pressing the reset button on the back or side. That should do the trick, though I don't have an iPAQ 4150 in front of me to test that on.

In terms of the OS, everything is on ROM, a small chip inside the Pocket PC that has everything on it that you saw when you first turned on the device after buying it.

Thanks for the help. I reset the device as you suggested and can now connect to my access point.

Glad I could help. Now that it's working again, once you get it set up the way you want, you may want to get a backup program (or use the one that came with your iPAQ, if any) and make a backup image of the device.
