Just recently got a K-Jam and I have to say that while I am generally pleased with the physical equipment itself, I am completely underwhelmed by AS4. I have had nothing but difficulties with it so far and it does not feel ready for prime time. A partial list:

1) Neither my work PC or laptop will sync. AS generates error 85010014. Followed all of the instructions so far about removing & resintalling Outlook, etc. Nothing works. Most things I posts have seen blame this on Outlook on the desktop but everything was fine with my old device so I'm not sure how much I buy that. Home machine works fine except for #2 below.

2) Pocket Money 2006 just hangs AS4. So does SPB Pocket Finance.

3) Reader Activation doesn't work. I was able to get around this thanks to an earlier thread here @ PPCT - thanks guys!

If anyone has some advice on items 1) or 2) I would greatly appreciate it. Does anyone know how if you can get away with using AS 3.8 with WM5? Really only need the sync functionality @ work. Tried it yesterday to no avail but figure someone may know how to get it done.

Thanks in advance.

Try shutting down Zonealarm, or whatever you are using for firewall protection. There seems to be a significant difference between AS and WM5 vs. AS and 2003SE. I'm not sure if active ports changed because AS 4.0 and 2003SE will work with Zonealarm active.

I assume you are referring to my Money problem and I do not have a firewall on my local machine; I use the one in my router. I very much appreciate your response but I'm afraid that's not it.

Thanks anyway,

An update in item 2):

SPB Pocket Finance did ultimately work; however, it took about 13 hours for it to do so. I've read that the program works fine for some people so you may want to give it a try anyway but I have to pass on it.

Cash Organizer from Inesoft works fine. You can find them here: http://www.inesoft.com/eng/index.php. It has all of the functionality I need and syncs in less than a minute. Initial sync was somewhat longer (about 15 minutes) but it's peppy after that.

Still looking for a solution to #1. There are reports out there that it may have to do with the use of folder redirection and I doubt that my IT department is going to spend much time changing their setup for 1 out of 60K people). What amazes me (but shouldn't at this point) is that this is core functionality in Windows, I would have thought this would have been difficult to overlook or certainly would have been raised during testing. This will lose MS a lot of customers in the business space if they don't get it sorted soon.

Either MS will patch it or I'll have to come up with some other PDA/sync solution. What's the point of a device that won't sync?

I'm stuck in the same boat with an ipaq 2400. Did the upgrade this morning and spent the rest of the day trying to troubleshoot. Downgraded it and within a minute of booting up i had everything synced how it should...

Folder redirection does seem to be the suspect as it is used on this network also. Fortunately i am the admin so i could always change it for myself. It would not be the first time MS has done it either - if FR is used and proxy settings are set via group policy you get an error in the logs about something. Still waiting on a fix on that too as they declare in their knowledge document.

Here's to hoping that they get it sorted quickly. This is like having an expensive stereo without speakers...useless.
