It is a small bluetooth headset that you can wear like a ring. It remains connected to your cell phone through bluetooth, hence the maximum range is of course 10 metres. Its benefit over a normal bluetooth handsfree device is that this little gadget can be used in a huge crowd to hold a conversation without having any trouble listening to the person at the opposite end. This is possible due to the bone conduction technology that the ring phone uses. "</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/ekkie_bt_fingerset.jpg" /><br /><br />Here is the epitome of Bluetooth and Bone Conduction Technology. You can now talk and listen on your mobile phone while looking like you are picking your ear and talking to youself at the same time!! Actually, the value proposition behind this device is that it operates far more effectively in noisy areas where a typical handset would pick up a lot of background noise. It's also very light at 30 grams and employs some sort of 'Ubi Button' technology that allows you to control handset functions using various finger movements.

I like the technology that the finger-phone uses, but it's too much hassle to keep my hand held to my ear. Hopefully they'll be able to do something with an earpiece that doesn't require something going into the ear canal... gross.

Actually, I'd like an inexpensive canal earphone solution, working much like the Koss "Plug" or Sony EX-71.

Sticking my finger in my ear to carry on a conversation just isn't practical.

didn't we all laugh at those tiny bluetooth headsets and think we'd be carted way in straight-jackets for talking to ourselves?

honestly ... how many people have used the finger to block out noise on the other ear while taking phone calls on the street?

:)

this is really interesting stuff!

What did you say? Sorry, I can't hear you, I have my finger stuck in my ear... Can't think this device would be very popular.

Its a great idea.

I've been looking for a small bluetooth handset to partner with a pocket-pc phone / large smartphone but there's nothing available.
Why am I forced to wear a stupid headset when all I want is to leave my pocket-pc in my bag and pop a tiny handset in my top pocket?

This is a possible solution although its too small.

A bluetooth enabled handset/pen/banana is just whats needed.

Steve.

I think that using a regular BT headset with your hand over your ear has the same result:
- you have les trouble listening to the other person in a noisy environment
- you look almost just as stupid (you only miss an ugly, seemingly ultra cheap, plastic ring on your finger)
