Whenever I drop my hx4700 into the cradle to sync, I get a dialog box which says:

Notification Error
Cannot execute
\Windows\Setup.exe

I tap ok each time, and there seems to be no lost functionality. I have searched for this file and cannot find it (using Resco Explorer 2005).

Anyone have any ideas??

Thanks in advance
James

This is a very common problem. The latest, 2.2.11 version of SKTools (http://s-k-tools.com/) will be able to fix the problem. Also see my remarks on “Dangling (dead) check in DB_notify_events (Notification Queue)?” in here (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=360617) – it'll explain what this problem is all about (note that the roundup reviews the previous, 2.2.10 version; it's only in the latest version, released after publishing the roundup that support for these kinds of problems has been introduced.

If you don't want to pay for SKTools and/or prefer doing the cleaning by hand, let me know and I elaborate on exactly what kind of event you must look for in the DB_notify_events system database when you scrutinize it based on the tutorial here (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36471).

Thank you! It worked like a charm - $9 well spent.

Glad to be of help :)

Incidentally, you may want to read the above-linked roundup of cleaning utilities - SKTools has great potential and is able to fix tons of similar problems.
