It has been reported on some forums that this last version of .NET Compact Framework (1.0 SP3) speeds-up our Pocket PCs or, at least, can stop some memory leaks.

http://www.ipaqhq.com/forums/showthread.php?s=bc8e8138add45f2a669b161330ad572d&t=22229

I have installed it on my hx4700 and it seems that TomTom is more responsive.
There is no choice for installation location (main memory) but it doesn't take that much. And if it fixes some memory leaks...
I have also installed it on my Qtek 8100 WM 2003 se w/o any problem. but here, apparently no real improvements.

Here is the link to Microsoft Website for last release of .NET CF

Any one else to make a test?

it it true that installation of service pack 3 of .net framework 1.1 increases the performance of applications written in .net .
but you get dramatic speed improvements once you upgrade to .net framework version 2.0(still in beta phase)

Ok.
I have seen also 2.0 release on Microsoft site, but it seems to be only for Desktop PC OSes.
Is it installable on Pocket PCs devices too ?

Yes, but it won't be available until November. For now, you'll have to stick with v1.0 SP3.

It's a 14MB download. Can someone give more insight as to how much space it takes up on the device?

Installed, I believe SP3 it is about 1 - 1.5 MBytes.
