Taking a fully functional quad-band (GSM/GPRS) Windows smartphone as it's starting point - again, based on the Microsoft Magneto operating system - the A701 adds a fully-featured PDA with a 2.7 inch TFT touchscreen 3 and [an] ultra-sensitive GPS receiver. . . A lightning-fast 520 MHz Intel processor 4 and 192 MB of internal memory means the A701 is just as suited to speedy route calculation and mapping as it is to email and gaming. One of the most fashionable and stylish devices on the market, the A701 also includes a 1.3 megapixel camera and Bluetooth connectivity"</i> <br /><br /> <img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/A701.jpg" /> <br /><br />We've <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=42554&amp;postdays=0&amp;postorder=asc&amp;start=0">previously posted</a> about the A701, but this time it's official. This snazzy looking Pocket PC Phone Edition device will be running WM5 and should be available by the end of the year. There's no word on pricing yet and sadly, it does not have WiFi as many had hoped for. Still, it's an extremely compelling device regardless. There are a few more pictures of the device at <a href="http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/6111.html">InfosyncWold</a> if you are interested. I certainly am! ;-)

I love it except for three things...
1. Battery life?
2. Size
3. No WiFi!? I NEED my WiFi!

The size is not problem. It has only 2.8inch LCD, so it should be smaller than h1900 from the pic.

This is my device, as long as it costs less than $700. I don't mind wi-fi at all.

So far this is in the front-running as my next ppc/smartphone device.
Integrated GPS is something I've been waiting for and I dont mind not having WiFi at all.

How cool looking is that back theme? I'd make one for my audiovox SMT5600, but I think the screen res wouldnt do it justice.

Strange. I think vendors should offer at least one way of accessing broadband speeds (WiFi or Edge/EVDO).

Real nice form factor. However, it might just be the Eten m600 that gets the nudge from me. Heck, I have a GlobalSat 338 receiver anyways.

Cool GPS! Bummer no wifi but that's what sd cards are for :)

If it's cheap than the k-jam I'm all for it!

Its looks great, but I'm mostly sold on convergence now. 8O

So far my eyes are on the m600 too and passing the m500 to my girlfriend once I get the WM5.0 upgrade on it.
