How on earth could they sell these at that price?

Lucky for those who got it!!!

From reading the blog, they sold out before the keynote was over. Really, they should have had a drawing or something instead of just throwing it out there, available just to people who happened to be at the right place at the right time.

But I still don't regret the $1000 I shelled out for mine :D

what those guys from Italy were doing posting reserving their devices there? ATTENDEES means those who will be present on that event. BTW, as far as I know ATTENDEES had to pay for participating in that event and if I'm not wrong the fee was close to 1000 dollars. ;)

How on earth could they sell these at that price?

Microsoft underwrote the cost to spur developer adoption and deployment.

I was order #2 for the JarJar (as I'm affectionately calling it), and I've been using mine for about 24 hours now. It's an incredible device, both in terms of hardware design, and being the first WM5 device I've used.

You can find my account of acquiring and setting it up, along with the rest of my PDC coverage, and other gadget geekiness and evangelism on my blog - www.tinyscreenfuls.com.

There were 1000 devices available, from what I heard, and they sold out in about 1.5 hours.

The fee to attend PDC is actually closer to $2000, depending on which pre-conference sessions you chose to attend. That doesn't include airfare or hotel.

If you have any questions about the device, or about PDC, shoot me an email (listed on my blog) or post a comment there.

P.S. - I'm posting this from one of the Vista demo systems they have set up all over the place. Glass window outlines are COOL! :)
