I'm still walking around with an ipaq 36xx and an ancient cell phone.
HTC Universal seems like the one I've been waiting (and waiting) for, but I'm in the US. My understanding is that I could get an unlocked Universal and use it on T mobile with regular service, i.e. no EDGE.
So what's the speed like? Like a 56K modem? How slow is slow?
Currently I have no mobile internet, and the Universal seems ideal to me in just about every other way.

Yes, if you wanted to, you could use the Universal on T-Mobile's native coverage, though you would get no EDGE and no 850 MHz roaming. Speed would be around 3.7 KBytes per second.

Bear in mind, though, that the Universal would likely cost you upwards of $1000 for an experience that you could easily get from an Axim and basic cell phone for under $500. It would be better, in fact, since you could get an EDGE phone for faster data speeds.

Thanks that's helpful. About what I thought.
Thanks for the suggestion, but 2 devices and no keyboard is not what I'm looking for. I might consider the Wizard. Or maybe I'll keep waiting, after all what's another few years walking around with 2 dinosaurs.
