h5555 Backlight Problem

The unit works fine, except the backlight is out or turned off. I have hard and soft reset the unit, to no avail. Is there a way to turn it back on? Is there a replacement without replacing the entire screen? If screen replacement is the only solution, where is the least expensive repair shop?

Let's start with the basic check first:
This is worth double-checking, as is holding down the power button to toggle the backlight. That said, it's possible it's worn out from age. I have no idea if you can do a selective parts replacement; PPC Techs (www.ppctechs.com) might be able to provide further info on this.
