HP 4705 Memory Issues - iPaq File Store GONE!

Hi -

Just got the HP 4705 - love it so far, but I'm having some memory issues. I seem to have lost the iPaq File Store - the 85 mb partition. It was there before I installed Garmin que GPS software. It seemed to disappear right after I deleted a detail map from the iPaq file store.

Now, when I look in start-settings memory, all I see is 62,28 mb total main memory, and whatever memory cards I have installed. Does anyone out there know how I get the file store back?!

Anyone else see this before?

That's no different than my 4705. iPAQ File Store shows up under the Storage Card tab as 85.06 MB. Check the dropdown list on that tab.

Checked that - it says NOT INSTALLED (when I have no cards in - otherwise it just shows me the CF or SD card).

Going to exchange the unit tomorrow - hopefully its not the Garmin software somehow blowing it out....

Did you try a hard reset? That should restore it to factory settings. You'll need to back up or save any data to your PC, and you'll have to reinstall all non-OEM software, but that might be preferable to arguing about a return.

And if a hard reset doesn't work, try upgrading your ROM (even if it's the same version), as a ROM upgrade will also wipe out your file store (and hopefully recreate it).

One of the first things I did when I got it was upgrade the ROM. I also did a hard reset and that didn't help.

I just exchanged the unit and it seems to be working fine now...so far..
