I have done some research, and have not yet taken any out for a trial, but am interested in options.

I currently use SmartListToGo (formerly ThinkDB2, before that, ThinkDB) on a Palm.

Bought a X50V and would like to convert over completely, but there's a few things each platform does better...

Some time ago I bought SprintDB Pro. It seems to be a fully-featured dB tool for PPC and it has a desktop companion

I am no database expert, but it certainly seems like a great tool to me.

No question about it, SprintDB is one of the best.
I too used ThinkDB and ThinkDB2 years ago. SprintDB is lightyears ahead!
There is definitely a "real database" feel to the program.
What kind of databases are you looking to develop?

I'm a SprintDB fan myself, but primarily because Access compatibility is a concern for me. If you just need a DB for the PPC and possibly a Desktop companion, HandBase is something you should look at as well. It has a huge following, and a glut of predeveloped applications.

HandBase does have some Access compatibility, but not as cleanly as SprintDB. If you are comfortable with Access, SprintDB would also be the shallower learning curve, IMHO.

If you are looking around, you might also look at http://www.grandasoft.com/ It works with the native .cdb format, which gives you the Access link, if that is important. I haven't used this one, but the price is right.

Sven,
Tried that one. You're absolutely right, the price can't be beat. The functionality is rather nice too. Two biggest drawbacks: 1. No macro/condition execution that I could find. Seemed like they're pretty much flat databases. 2. You can't create a database on the move. You have to be at your desktop/laptop to create a new database and form.
I really like the flexibility that SprintDB give by being able to create complex databases and forms while I'm on the go.

Thanks. Although I'm not a big fan of Access, I'll try ithis.

We commented that if Access compatibility was a consideration....

If not, you might look at HanDbase. It also has a PPC and desktop component, and very large following. It's Access compatibility leaves something to be desired which is why I have avoided it, but if that's not important to you, have a look.
