<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.wirelessdevnet.com/news/2005/aug/15/news1.html' target='_blank'>http://www.wirelessdevnet.com/news/...g/15/news1.html</a><br /><br /></div><i>"The Fonix Speech Group, an operating division of Fonix(R) Corp., today announces an agreement with i-mate(TM), the specialists in Microsoft(R) Windows Mobile(TM) device solutions and supportive applications. i-mate(TM) will offer Fonix speech-activated dialing solutions, Fonix VoiceDial(TM) and Fonix VoiceCentral(TM), as downloadable software packages at <a href="www.clubimate.com">www.clubimate.com</a> -- the i-mate(TM) device-owner dedicated Web site -- and as bundled software packages to corporate accounts. Fonix receives unit royalty fees from i-mate(TM) for each download or bundled package sold."</i><br /><br />I initially thought this announcement was that Fonix Voicedial would be bundled in the ROM of iMate devices, but on further examination it seems this is only saying that iMate will be offering Fonix VoiceDial for sale off the Club iMate Web site. Hardly seems worth the press release, doesn't it?

I have an announcement as well...

I have made an agreement to offer my one of my i-mate Jams to whomever wants one. However, I will charge for it... :?

I tried the latest Fonix VoiceCentral 3.0 and found it to be the worst of the three (the other two being Microsoft Voice Command and Cyberon Voice Commander) when it came to recognition.

If their engine is as bad in the rest of their products (read: VoiceDial), well, you get the picture...

So, sure, let them offer and charge for it. It isn't worth the price or storage space if they decided to bundle it in their ROMs anyway, so most people won't bother buying it.

Decide for yourself. Pick up a trial from their site:
