Hello All,
I'm looking to purchase a Dell Axim X50 Handheld 416MHz and i'm looking to watch video's on it from a SD card of course. Will this unit be too laggy for it? Or should i be ok with it? Thanx for all the info.

I think you should be fine. I recently bought an x50v, and it works just fine for playing movies off my 1GB SD card.
If you're planning on watching movies on your pocketpc, download Pocket DVD Studio. It works wonders for converting just about any video format I've thrown at it (divx, xvid, etc.), to a version that is suitable for watching on my Dell. This makes the file size much much smaller than the original (700mb -> 250mb, depending on settings).
Enjoy! :)

I've watched movies on my 300 mH X5 and it wasn't too laggy :) You'll definitely be fine with the 416. Course it won't be as pretty as the VGA, but it will definitely be watchable, and the battery will probably last longer too :)

my x50v out of the box was laggy for some reason (compared to my older hp 2210) but im sure once it fires up the programs it should be no problem at all.

It's hard comparing the performance of a QVGA device to a VGA device. My h1940 actually feels faster than my X50v purely because the former doesn't have to render as many pixels. One might think that the 624MHz processor can compensate, but in reality, it's not that simple.
Rest assured though, for a VGA device, the performance of the X50v is top-notch.

yup i thought my x50v would be fast fast fast with its fast processor and the intel graphics board but nope....but i again i dont doubt its fast once you get the programs up and running

Well, it seems blindingly fast to me compared to my old one! More then twice as fast processor and twice as much RAM make a big difference!

of course, but i did notice that theres a couple sec delay when clicking that start button. none of my previous ppcs had a delay

I too have a v but any PPC is going to play movies well if you use TCPMP to view them with.

Right. For tasks such as media playback, games and all, the X50v is blindingly fast. One might notice a bit of a delay when bouncing around from app to app, but that can be expected with any VGA device. :)
