My new job requires I travel between mine sites away from the office.

I was contemplating the I-Mate Jam Mini O2 PDA Phone as it is the smallest GSM/GPRS capable phone-PDA available here.

My idea was to be able to be contacted via MSN onsite. Does anyone know what sort of data usage rate when you have Pocket MSN on idle for 1 hr - let alone 5-8 hours?

Not sure about the data usage rate of MSN, but both Cingular and T-Mobile in the USA offer unlimited GPRS (T-Mobile) or EDGE (Cingular) for an additional $20 per month. Probably worth every penny in your application. I know it is in mine: downloading 60MBytes - 100 MBytes worth of podcasts every day.
