PXA26x parts were the de facto standard for Pocket PC devices until the chip giant began shipping the more advanced PXA27x family, aka 'Bulverde', just over a year ago. Since then, almost all of the new Intel-based PDAs and PocketPC-phone combos have shipped with Bulverde processors. The older parts are not toast yet. Intel will continue accepting orders for the parts until 18 January 2006, and will ship product though to 18 July 2006, the documents reveal."</i><br /><br />According to The Register, Intel will be offering the PXA25x and PXA27x as alternatives to the PXA26x, but warns against those who follow this upgrade path due to pin incompatibilities between the PXA25x/27x and the PXA26x. So you'll essentially have two options: redesign your product, or design a new product. ;)

Was any company still seriously using the PXA26x?

I'm actually kind of surprised that the PXA25x line is still in the mix. I'm not really up to date on how all the processor lines compare, though.

Yep, for instance the Xda II (HTC Himalaya) and Xda III/IIs (Blue Angel) were based on the PXA26x.

So how much of bad news is this for us with the PXA26x chip. I am running a sprint PPC-6600.

There's nothing you can really do. This news affects the manufacturers more than the consumers. Bottom line - your device still works.
