<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.smartphonefrance.com/actu.asp?ID=2971' target='_blank'>http://www.smartphonefrance.com/actu.asp?ID=2971</a><br /><br /></div><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20050726-SPVM3000.jpg" /><br /><br />So the buzz at Smartphone France is the imminent arrival of the Orange SPV M3000 - an Orange-branded HTC Wizard, which we've reported on many times before. The specs? 108mm x 58mm x 23mm, with a 4-hour talk time and 7-day standby time. Included is a 65K QVGA screen, 1.3MP camera, Wi-Fi, GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, and a slide-out landscape keyboard. Based on <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=40451">earlier reports</a>, the quad-band device features a TI OMAP 850 processor, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, and a miniSD slot. Time will tell what the actual specifications are, but back to the release date of the SPV M3000. It's been claimed that the device will surface in September.<br /><br /><b>Translation:</b> <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.smartphonefrance.com%2Factu.asp%3FID%3D2971&langpair=fr%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools">French to English</a>

Is it just me, or does the keyboard slide out of the wrong side? When using the keyboard, shouldn't the joypad be for the left thumb?

Ouch! Seven hour standby?! Sorry, but it doesn't matter what it does, if it won't last through a normal business day without a charge then what good is it?

You're right. It doesn't make sense. Something like 4-hour talk and 7-hour PDA would make more sense...

I know some French. It actually said 4 hours talk time and 7 DAYS on standby.
Now it makes more sense.

Yeah, my bad. I whipped up that post a little quickly and seemed to have overlooked that small typo.

Updated...

Yeh the TI processor kills it for me as well. Well that and the HTC Universal!!

I dunno. It has everything i need and it is REALLY small. If this TI processor can hold up in benchmarks i might actually consider one of these as apposed to the universal. I would loose vga and i'm sure a little processing power but I could probably live with that for the huge decrese in size.

Dunno. I'll have to see reviews, benchmakrs, and final specs on both before making a choice. :)

But i have this bad feeling that the TI isn't gonna cut it. :(

I hope it doesn't have a miniSD slot instead of an SDIO slot. Maybe the keyboard-less successor to the HTC Magician will have a better processor and SDIO.

eep, just noticed that. If it doesn't have an SDIO slot there's no way i would get it. :(

I have not having a CF slot, there is now way there are gonna take my SD slot. There are times that i would rather have 2 devices just so i can have my CF slot back. Really need it for work. :( ppcpe is just so nice to have though...

Yeah, no kidding. I would pay about $40 for an adapter that let me use one or two CF cards over Bluetooth (which is the only feasible way I can think of to get the slots back; SD adapters would be way too bulky and way too flimsy).
