ive been using the built in WM contact manager, and its driving me nuts having the contacts listed by last name, especially when its a company name and im too lazy to scroll down and add it as a company name and just add it to the top field, so i end up with something like 'Shop, Future' or 'Sound, A&B'... very annoying, anyone have a better piece of software for me to use?

Pocket Informant (http://www.webis.net/products_info.php?p_id=pi&dir=wm) is a solution. Alternatively, there's Agenda Fusion. (http://www.developerone.com/agendafusion) Those are the two big-name PIMs which offer a wide array of contact sorting solutions.

If you're syncing your contacts with Outlook, there's a simpler way though it can be a bit tedious. In the contacts folder, double click on a contact name which will bring up the detailed entries. Under the general tab (I'm assuming you have Outlook 2002), under the full name area, there is a drop down box entitled 'File As:'. This allows you to define how your contacts will appear.

You'll need to do this for every contact you have, as well as future contacts (a bit tedious as I said). If you're after a PPC based solution, both AF and PI have this function built in but neither is exactly cheap. I'd still recommend either of them though as must-have apps.

Try "FileAs" little plugin for the default Windows Mobile Contacts. More info... http://discussion.brighthand.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79834

wow! thanks so much for the PI suggestion, i lover it!
im not sure how i survived the last year using the built in crap. PI will definately be my next purchase after the trial is up. If I even take that long to test it. I might just buy it today!
