Help me pick a new PPC! My priorities in order are:
1: Works flawlessly with fold-out QWERTY keyboard
2: Capable of playing high quality DIVX/XVID movies in landscape mode
3: Affordable
4: Built-in 802.11b
5: Decent Battery Life
6: Bright and clear screen

I was looking at the ipaq rx3115 and the axim x30. I don't know how well they work with keyboards. Any suggestions?

Ipaq rx3715 would be best I guess.
Insane battery life on that one.

The Dell wont last half as long.

Thanks, I'll look into that model.

Anyone else have a recommendation?

Are the cams on HP ipaqs good enough in quality to use as one's only camera? (Are pictures crisp and does the lens adapt to changing conditions efficently)

Maybe an Axim with the extended battery.

I have the rx3715, and the battery life is great on it. It's only QVGA, and that bugs me more every day (as I watch all the new juni themes and such come out). The other thing is there seems to be some sort of bug in the flash ROM in a lot of devices. The File Store bug is quite common, at least according to this board and Brighthand. I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but it appears to manifest itself if you fill the file store up more than about 2/3 full. The file store then becomes read only. You can't format it. You can do a hard reset, but it will still be read only. I had to get mine replaced because of it. Now, I don't think it affects all rx3715's, but it is possible. (I didn't think it would happen to me.)

Other than that, I think it's a good device. Plays movies fine (using betaplayer/tcpmp), camera sucks (so no, you probably can't use it as your only camera - but all "integrated" cameras are like that), battery life is good, not a sluggish device by any stretch (probably not as fast as the 624MHz devices but good enough for everything I've thrown at it).

Accroding to http://www.pricewatch.com/ , the non-refurb ipaq rx3115 devices start at around US$ 260, while the x50v costs US$ 408 ( http://www.isquaredinc.com/DELLAX50vinfo.html ; but you may get the latter even cheaper from Dell).

With so little difference, I'd go for the x50v. It's a VGA device and can be used for much more things than any QVGA one. Especially good for movie watching. Its only downside is that it doesn't have really decent battery life and its screen isn't as good as that of the hx4700/PL720, but you can get an external battery for it pretty cheap.

280ish?? I priced it on Dell before I went on ebay for it. With 3 Dell discounts it was going for $399 plus tax, and no shipping cost. Where are you finding this other deal?

I ended up buying it for $355+ shipping in this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5792615089&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

..Also picked up a 2.2gb microdrive for $44, an extended life 2200mAh battery for $35, and a bluetooth keyboard from dell for $108.

darn, just checked, looks like the deal expired sometime today ive only seen the price get so low twice since its release in november 2004. the other time it got so low was with the extended battery, this time it only came with an extra regular battery. ive been checking slickdeals.net & techbargains.com everyday to watch for deals. i never buy tech without looking through tech deals sites like those first

which seller did you get your microdrive from, i was considering it (if you got it from ebay)

Sounds like I couldve saved about 100 bucks. Crap. Well at least it was still a couple hundred under retail.

I got the magicstor microdrive from e-legend on ebay, here's a list to his current auctions. Beware of rediculous shipping prices.
