What do you think....keep my 5555 or go with the 4700? I'm reading some 4700 postings and some of the concerns concern me. Granted, we hear more complaints than praises, but those that have 4700s, do you regret the upgrade & miss the 5555?

Thanks.

I think it depends on what you want to do with your Pocket PC. Is the 5555 doing what you want it to do, or are you after the extra mile with the hx4700? In addition, why are you interested in the hx4700? There are plenty of other VGA Pocket PCs which give you more bang for your buck (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=41680), so ideally, you should look outside the HP circle if possible.

If you want VGA, more RAM and ROM, and a much faster processor, then it may be time for an upgrade. If it's all about satisfying the inner geek, and ideally, you can wait until a few months until that upgrade becomes a necessity more than a want, then perhaps it's best if you hold on to your dollars for now.

IMHO, the 555x is only better than the hx4700 in three respects:

- sleeve compatibility
- more RAM (128 vs 64)
- D-pad instead of the touchpad + up/down key (like a jog dial) on the left side.

However, as Darius has pointed out, you have to decide yourself whether you need the 4" VGA screen of the hx4700 and won't have problems with the 64M RAM (generally, you won't, especially if you keep hacking/relocating everything into File Store/external cards).
