It not only marks a milestone in Taiwan’s FPD industry, but is also the first LTPS TFT-LCD module designed for PDA featured full-IC-integrated SOP technology worldwide. Toppoly’s 3.5-inch Full SOP LTPS TFT-LCD module is designed for the PDAs with high quality displays, it has a resolution of 240xRGBx320 at 262K colors display. The mass production is scheduled to start in Q1 of 2006."</i><br /><br />I'm hoping 2006 will be the year when we see more PDAs sporting brighter, clearer, and more colourful screens. Toppoly's recent press release certainly suggests that.

I think the main advantage will be even thinner devices. Imagine a 5 mm thick PDA.

so it is safe to say that well into 2006/07 we will still be working with 320 x 240 resolution. That's pretty depressing, regardless of how bright it might look. Why not VGA?

I think until displays become wildly cheap to manufacture, at the low end of the market, there will always be QVGA devices, and on the high end, there will always be VGA (or maybe better) devices. It's more about what's economically viable than satisfying the geeks.

What this says to me is "dual display clamshell PDA's".

That would be cool. The bottom display can be used either as a display or a keyboard.

Don't Panic!
