Hey all,
I'm a Palm OS user (used to be a PPC user; I bought an iPAQ 1945 when it was new, kept it for a year then switched back to PalmOS). I'm seeing how the platform is quickly heading south, and looking to switch back to the PPC OS. I've been quite out of the loop since I sold my iPAQ. I have no knowledge of the recent PPC's at all, hence my post. I am basically looking for a PPC with a feature set (and price) similar to that of the Tungsten E, but with WiFi. Bluetooth is not needed. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Axim x30 wireless. Make sure to keep the receipt though, for the warranty ;)

I would suggest the HP Ipaq 2700 or Ipaq 4700. You can't go wrong with either of these.

How much was the Tungsten E, and which are the essential features/USP of the Tungsten?

The Tungsten E is $200. It has a great screen, plenty of memory (32MB is a good bit for a PalmOS device), decent battery life. Basically I want a device similar to that, but with Wireless either built-in or as an option. I would love to have it in the price range of the Tungsten as well (less than $300).
I've actually been looking at a used iPAQ 2215. CF and SD, so I can use SD memory and CF WiFi.

The X50v is a great starter. It's got a great lifespan having been promised a Windows Mobile 5.0 upgrade, and best of all, you can usually find it discounted at Dell every now and then.

$200 is a bit low to get a good new pocketpc. You'll have a better experience if you up your budget to $300 at least.

OK, what's out there for $300-350?
I am shying away from the VGA units because they're too expensive for now.

As a recent convert from Palm to PPC, I would agree with the above assessments. Although this is generalizing somewhat, yes there are Palms than are cheaper than PPCs, but once you go above a certain monetary threshold (e.g. $300-$400) you get quality and features that can rival and exceed those of Palm.
I too would recommend trying the Dell. I'm still deciding between it and the Loox, but the Loox is clearly out of your suggested price range. I'm suspicious of HP, everything I've bought from them in recent years (including my most recent foolish purchase, the HP4700) turns out to be a POS that ends up getting promptly returned. I guess I really should learn my lesson 8)
Good luck,
JG

My wife has a Dell Axim X30 with WiFi and it's a pretty good unit. I'd highly recommend it. I have a Dell Axim X50V (VGA screen), and once you start using a VGA device it's hard to go back! If you can afford it, I'd suggest you get a X50V, since Dell will be offering an upgrade to WM 2005 OS by the end of the year. Whatever the case, you should look for Dell coupons to help reduce the price (they seem to be offered almost every week).

What's wrong with the iPAQ rx3115?
