I bought an old Jornada to test with, I'm trying to develop my first PocketPC app. Everything went fine, I sync'd it up, installed a couple apps, am still learning it. But I had these frequent messages about needing to replace the backup battery. So while I was exploring my new device, I stupidly removed the main battery (which was mostly charged) - while the backup battery was dead.

I replaced the main battery, did some combination of power switch and reset, and now all I get is a screen with the HP logo on it, even after I reset it again.

This is my first PPC and I didn't get a manual, so I don't even know what the 'normal' reset procedure is. I'd appreciate any help!

Thanks

Which model? Someone might still have a PDF manul. IIRC a hard reset was holding down the outside two program buttons and then pushing in the reset switch with the stylus. Making sure the screen goes completely blank. Could take a second ot two. Yea it's awkward, but it's not going to happen by accident ;)

If it is a user replaceable battery, just remove the battery and the backup battery and let it sit for a while. That will definitely hard reset the device

If it has a replacable battery it has to be in the 560 series. Here's a link to the manual (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-to-external-url/ref=mt_mo_view_2339/002-6154318-5128861?path=http%3A//media-server.amazon.com/exec/drm/digital/moleproxy.cgi%3Fname%3DSGV3bGV0dCBQYWNrYXJkIEpvcm5hZGEgNTY4IFBvY2tldCBQQyBNYW51YWw%3D%26file%3DTUFOVUFMMDAwMDAyMjQ4LnBkZg%3D%3D&append-uid=no) from Amazon.com.

Thanks for the replies. It's a 565. I figured it out shortly after I posted, I just kept the battery out for awhile, then reinstalled it, and it reset.
