I'm looking for an ultra-slim pocket PC to replace my ipaq 4150 -- ideally with a phone built-in. The i-mate JAM is nice and small, but it's about 50% thicker than the 4150. Any suggestions?

you are looking for something that impossible to find. 4150 is the one of the best devices in terms of form factor.
good luck on your search

Agreed. There is no phone-enabled Pocket PC that fits in the 4150's form factor.

I'm with the others. The h4150 clearly fits the categories of great performance and great form factor. However, the upgrade cycle of this device is already nullified, and the i-mate JAM won't be receiving an upgrade to Windows Mobile 5.0. If you can afford to wait until Q4 2005 or Q1 2006 when a lot of new Pocket PCs will be released, you may find something you're looking for.

The JAM (or other variants like XDA II Mini, Qtek s100) is a great size. It is faster than my iPAQ 4355 was (which is the same as the 4150 except for the extra keyboard and larger battery).

The added thickness is not really that bad. You get a smaller device (thicker but less wide), with a built phone. IF you need WiFi there are various SD WiFi cards available now, some that stick out only 5mm.
