Is it possible to send text messages back and forth to someone if they also have a bluetooth enabled Pocket PC? Does anyone know how to do this?
Please enlighten me, I am a newbie to the bluetooth world.
Thanks
I have an iPAQ 4700 if that makes a difference. :?:

This thread may have the info you're looking for: http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=40059
It discusses Wi-Fi chat, but it's also compatible with Bluetooth.
Another possible option is ProximityMail. (http://www.proximitymail.com/)

Are you talking about SMS text messages? If so, then assuming your service and your friend's service both supports SMS (I don't see any reason why you both wouldn't), then there are some applications available via Handango that do SMS over BT using your BT-enabled cellphone.
Just go to Handango and do a search for SMS. You should be able to find some.
I recommend SimpleSMS. It's not very elegant looking, but it's quick, a lot quicker than SmartGSM.

Yes, I also recommend SimpleSMS. It has some problems in WM2003SE Landscape/true VGA mode and runs pretty slow on storage cards, but, otherwise, it's great.

Oh I forgot to mention Instant SMS. It's a small up that integrates with Contacts. Just hold and tap on the contact name and you can send an SMS. What's good about this app is that it establishes a bluetooth connection with the phone even before you type is your message. So when you tap on send, for sure the message will be sent. Unlike in other SMS apps, it's frustrating that after typing that long message you can't connect via bluetooth and you have to soft reset or something.

Yes, integration into Contacts can be pretty good. Some other apps also support this (SimpleSMS, not even version 4.0, unfortunately, doesn't):
mPhone 2.6.3
Running Voice
c2i
Unfortunately, these programs, especially the memory-hog (unless you hack it to a storage card in the way I've described at http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36674 ) Running Voice are a clear overkill for sending SMS messages.
