WHAT CAN I DO WITH A POCKET PC?

Hey Everyone,

I was doing a little searching and was wondering if anyone thought it would be a good idea to start a "What can I do with a Pocket PC" link?

I did a search on the site for one and couldn't readily find a current discussion. I am just getting back into the Pocket PC scene. It's been a while since I played around with one and I was looking for some advice as to what I can actually do with a Pocket PC. Maybe reading some other users' ideas and thoughts as to what they do with their devices would help me and others to gain a better appreciation of these neat devices.

Just a thought...

If such a topic has already been posted, I apologize. If one has, and anyone has a link or two to them... If you could please pass them on, it would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure if this has already been covered but here is what I use my Imate Jam for.

1. Telephone.

2. PIM (Agenda Fusion) - I no longer carry a paper diary or planner my Pocket PC is the only device I need for Managing my diary, Tasks, Contacts and small projects.

3. Calculator - use it all the time

4. Conversion - (WorldMate) I use the conversion utility (Measurements and Currency) at least three times per week.

5. Weather Forecasts (SPB Weather).

6. Dictionary - I am using Colins English Dictionary at the moment - check it almost everyday.

7. Email - Sync with Outlook and download from my pop3 account.

8. Pocket Excel - use to view key spreadsheets (mainly budgets) Access this at least 3 times per week.

9. Note Taking (PhatPad) - use to take quick notes daily.

10. Internet Browsing - Use avantgo every day - but also access the internet directly two or three times per week.

11. Plan and record Workouts - Use MySports Trainer to log my workouts (3 times per week)

12. Personal Finance - Use SpB Finance to sync with my MS Money program - used at least once per week.

13. Route Planner - Used approx once per week to plan routes - normally for business.

14. Movie Reviews - Use Landwares Movie Guide - access at least two or three times per week.

15. Games - Not a real gamer but still play quick games a couple of times per week. (normally when I am waiting around).

16. Music - Have used my Pocket PC as my main MP3 player for some time - have just started to use the it with Napster.

17. Movies - Do not use this very often, but occasionaly will load a movie - mainly if I am flying somewhere.

18. Ebook - used MS Reader on previous Pocket PCs - but cant get an activated version to work on my imate Jam - Have just started to use Ereader.

Thats about is for now - I may look at a GPS solution soon though.

Now that I have a bluetooth GPS for my JAM, I use it mainly for guidance and for making phone calls. Mainly guidance however because I always get lost! :D

I use my Pocket PC Phone (an XDA II Mini, same as JAM) for:

* Phone
* MSN Messenger
* Email
* Avantgo
* A few games (Solitaire, Jawbreaker, Monopoly)
* PIM
* Music
* Occasional Video
* 2nd digicam

Great device, tiny size, SUPER screen, fast, converged (PPC and Phone). GET ONE!![/list]
