I have an ipaq 2410 with an 256MB SD. Is it all possible to have the built in task & schedule programs save my data to the SD card rather than the built in ROM/RAM?

Don't know, but you can back up the PIM databases only to your memory card.

Welcome to the board :)

No, the Windows CE databases are in RAM only. That is, when you enter a new contact in your Contacts app, it will only get into RAM and will not be in a "safer" place until you (or iPAQ Backup, or ActiveSync) explicitly move it there. That is, you must manually backup them/synchronize them with your desktop computer in order to be safe.
